Short presentation

The USC is one of the nine Spanish universities included in the 2014 edition of the Academic Ranking of World Universities compiled by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Academic development, highly acknowledged researchers, papers published in scientific journals are some of the criteria selected by the Chinese institution, which handles data from 2,000 universities.

The USC is in the vanguard of promoting the funding of university enterprise and knowledge. It has managed to attract the interest of other universities and the backing of national investors, in order to create venture capital societies at the service of university research.

In Spain the USC is or has been:

1st –       obtaining ISO 9001 Certification for the academic area.

–              Presenting the Social Responsibility Report

–              Graduates who occupy the post of radiophysics and of intern psychology in the Ministry of Health.

3rd as regards Academic Excellence Awards

6th in research and in the number of patents applied for

8th in funds received from the National R+D Plan

The USC is an historic higher education institution with 30 faculties and schools, 27 research centres, 56 master degrees, 53 PhD programmes and 42 official bachelor degrees. Internationalisation is a key element in the University´s strategic approach: the USC´s  extensive experience is demonstrated in the international cooperation projects and joint research record so far.

Role of organization in the project

USC has great expertise in the management of International cooperation projects through its active participation in different international project and networks and has been engaged in various aspects of interaction of universities with research and technological centres, scientific and technological parks, businesses and other agents. In the field of project management, USC has coordinated several Erasmus Mundus ECW/Action 2 projects such as lot 2 PEACE (Middle East), lot 9 “CENTAURI” (Central Asia) and lot 15, 17 and 18 (Latin America). USC is partner in several EMECW/A2 projects: ALRAKIS I & II  in South Caucasus Region, EMMAG and EU-METALIC in Maghreb, EXPERTS I, II&III in South and South-East Asia and China, MARCO XXI and ARCADE in Central Asia, etc. USC also runs an EMMC “Crossways in European Humanities” and an EMJD in “NanoFar”-European Doctorate in Nano medicine and pharmaceutical innovation.USC can provide technological support to issues of practical university-business cooperation: curriculum design, copyright ownership issues, strategic cooperation agreement drafting, sustainable business-HEI cooperation development, monitoring tools, entreprise human resources networking, etc. USC also would promote a common understanding of key competencies and contributing to the enhancement of the students/trainers skill and academic staff expertise, by improving both in theoretical and business trainings, by recognizing the needs of diverse national audiences-groups in an interdisciplinary approach.
